Getting Beyond the Portal - How To Find Your Way Inside

For successful registration, you need exactly four things:
- a penname;
- an e-mail address;
- a password;
- the ability to read, comprehend and type the confirmation code into a text box, also known as Captcha.

Penname
Your penname should be under 50 characters long. It can include any Latin characters (which means no Cyrillic letters, pictograms, katakana, runes, etc.), numbers, spaces, dashes and underscores. Your penname should not include any quotation marks or slashes. Also, while it can include spaces, it should not start with one.
While the choice of the penname remains up to you, take care to preserve a modicum of decency in your inventiveness. Normally, if we find your penname offensive or inappropriate, we will contact you about it and offer to change it to a more acceptable one. Should the warning be ignored, the Dungeon Keepers reserve the right to delete any accounts with offensive pennames, including the stories posted by such authors.

E-mail address
Take care to include a valid e-mail address during your registration. That's the only way the Dungeon Keepers will be able to contact you about your stories and any pets that escaped to other parts of the dungeons. Also, this address will be used by the Password Recovery Owl, should you misplace your password somewhere.

Password
Your password should be between 8 and 18 characters long. Please keep it safe, as it will be saved in an encrypted form, and we won't be able to retrieve it for you. If you forget your password, you will need to summon the Password Recovery Owl from the Obliviate page (hope you can remember the e-mail address you registered with!).

Oh, and don't forget to enter the password into the password confirmation field (consider this the first test for whether you can remember it).

Captcha
The confirmation code is there to make sure you are a living, breathing person (or an intelligent undead, for that matter) who's joining the library to read and share stories, and not a spam robot (or zombie) signing up to spread useless and/or malicious messages (or eat people's brains).

In addition to the required fields, you can enter your real name (or alternative alias), homepage and bio.

A few words about the homepage field. This can be your LiveJournal, MySpace (does anyone still use those?), DeviantArt page, personal page, you name it.
Hint: using this field to specify your page on another fanfiction site may not necessarily be the most diplomatic decision. We shall pout at you.
Another hint: using this field for business advertising is an even worse idea, as this website is strictly non-profit. We shall pout at you AND delete the link.

Your bio can be anything that you feel appropriate to share. You can even include pictures in it, provided you find your own place to host them. If you want your bio to include any formatting, you have to use appropriate HTML tags. If you have trouble with those, check out our Tag Magic guide.
