Submission Rules
DungeonLight welcomes Harry Potter Fan fiction from most genres into our archives. If you have a fiction in the D/A, AU, Romance or any of other documented categories, feel free to submit it to our archives where it will first be moderated and then accepted and displayed to the general public. Your fiction may, of course, also be rejected - but our moderators will provide you with a sound reason as to why, and you are welcome to correct and resubmit your fiction to be moderated. There is no limit to the times you can submit your fiction to be considered.
However, there are a few rules you need to adhere to if you wish your fiction to be validated on the first go:
Get a beta reader
We highly recommend you get someone to look over your fiction before submitting it as two sets of eyes are always better than one. If you do not know what a beta reader is or how to get one, please visit the beta boards and find out. If you already are a beta reader, we would still suggest you get another one just to be safe.
Adhere to the submission format
Needless to say, when you want to submit a story, you’re given very specific fields to fill out. As long as you put the title where it should be and the story text where it’s stated, you should be alright in that sense.
Be patient
At this rate, your story shouldn’t take more than a week to be validated or otherwise. This however may change if the numbers of stories being submitted grows. But for now, you’ll hear from us via email about your story within a week of its submission.
Question
We do realize that we cannot possibly cover every single detail of the submission rules here especially as certain aspects of a fiction apply only to it so we have a general question thread where any and all your submission, validation, rejection and complaints related questions can go. We keep a close eye on that thread and will answer your queries as soon as we can.
Talk to us
It should go without saying that all the staff members are always at you service. If you have a question you do not wish to make public, want to know why you story was rejected, want to know why you suddenly cannot submit a story or just want to chat, feel free to email any of us on our staff email address (listed on our staff page) and we’ll get back to you. Though please keep in mind that we do have priorities. So for example an email inquiring about a certain story will be answered first rather than one inquiring about our health, or Professor Sprout’s pink earmuffs.
Get help
As you may have noticed, we do have a handy Help section just for you. Again, it does not cover every aspect of every story but it does give a general guideline that you may find useful.
For further details about our warnings, categories, limitations and so on, please refer to the Help section designed specifically for this purpose.
Happy writing, and we hope to see make your own special niche here in the dungeons.
